Body surgery

Many people are not happy with their body shape or feel that they are holding too much fat in certain areas. It seems to be common these days for most people to be unhappy with a certain part of their body, if not most or all of it. Whatever the reason for this, it does mean that more people are having some sort of body surgery to correct these imperfections.

It tends to be stomach surgery that is the most requested. Most people feel that having a  flat and muscular stomach is extremely desirable. When a woman has had a baby or if someone has lost a lot of weight, they can get excess fat and loose skin on the stomach. This can lead them to feel like they look unpleasant and also give them the appearance of a fat stomach. Some women may find that they get asked if they are pregnant because their stomach is larger in proportion to the rest of the body.

There are several procedures which are commonly done to get over this problem. A tummy tuck is where the tummy is cut along the pubic hairline and excess fat and skin will be removed. For a full tummy tuck the tummy button may also be moved so that it has the correct position in the newly sculpted stomach. A modified tummy tuck is where the skin is wrinkled but the tummy has good muscle tone so no fat is removed but the excess skin is removed, so that the tummy muscles can be seen and the tummy has a flatter appearance.

Some people choose to just have liposuction or liposculpture. This can be used to reduce unwanted fat in some areas and to provide a different body shape. This is often performed on the stomach but can also be done of hips, thighs, buttocks and knees.

These procedures are normally only carried out when a person has tried using weight loss and exercise as a means to lose the fat but it has not been successful.
